It is getting more common to not only order from the home delivery companies, but also to drive for them. While this can generate some great new income, it also leaves you open to lose even more.
The policy that you have that covers you and your vehicle does not provide any coverage for “Business†use. What this means is that when you are delivering a pizza or taking that evening Uber rider home, your policy takes a break. Some of the App-based companies may offer some coverage while you have selected a job, some absolutely do not.
While there is coverage available for this type of work, it is not going to be the Personal Auto policy that you already have. A commercial, or business automobile, policy is the proper way to cover yourself while using your vehicle in business.
The unfortunate thing about a commercial policy is that they tend to cost a bit more than the personal policy you already have. Please take this into account when you decide to do deliveries.
