Did you know that most windshield repairs are free?
Having said that, there are some conditions...
First off, for there to even be the potential of coverage, the vehicle must have comprehensive coverage - or COMP for short.
Second, the windshield needs to be REPAIRABLE. This means the repair company can use a Resin to fill the crack and restore the glass to DOT approved standards. There are some requirements here too - It must be of a size and location that can not only be filled but bring back the structural integrity of the glass. This means no cracks near the edge and it must be smaller than a quarter or sometimes a dollar bill depending on some factors.
After all of that, most insurance carriers will waive the deductible and pay for the glass to be repaired - which usually costs around $80.
Take advantage of the repair while you can though! Once the crack grows to a size or location that can not be repaired, the glass will now have to be replaced - and that's when your deductible applies!
