Did you know you can tell where the eye of a storm is - even if you are hundreds of miles away?
When there is a cyclonic storm near your location, a simple trick can help you find out where the eye of the storm is.
Cyclonic storms swirl around a low-pressure center. If you are in the northern hemisphere, that circular motion will be in a counterclockwise direction. If you stand outside and can feel a constant wind, you can now determine the approximate direction of the storm eye.
Stand facing the wind and point your left arm toward the same direction so it's pointing where the wind is coming from. Then point your right arm at a 90-degree angle from your left arm. Your right arm is now pointing toward the eye of the storm.
While you can not determine the distance from you, you can determine where it currently is and that can help make other decisions, such as if you should go boating today!
